Seattle Facial Cosmetic Surgery

Cosmetic surgery is one of many options available for those of seeking facial rejuvenation. Although cosmetic surgery typically produces the most predictable and long-lasting outcomes, some of us don't want surgery and others can't afford the down-time required with cosmetic surgery. Some of the most common cosmetic surgery procedures performed by Seattle cosmetic surgeon Sam Naficy, MD are listed below, but also with some of the non-surgical alternatives offered to those not quite ready for surgery.

Eye Lift Cosmetic Surgery

Upper and lower eyelid lift (upper and lower blepharoplasty) procedures can improve the appearance of heavy and droopy upper eyelids, baggy lower eyelids, and eyelid wrinkles. During an eyelift procedure the surgeon typically removes excess skin and sometimes may remove excess fat. Eye lift procedures are usually easy to tolerate (minimal pain) and fairly quick to recover from (5-7 days).

There are also a number of non-surgical alternatives to eyelift surgery. Botox treatments can help reduce lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Facial fillers such as Restylane, Juvederm, and Radiesse can fill in the dark circles under the eyes and make the eyelid bags seem less apparent. Laser resurfacing helps regenerate new collagen and can help reduce fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes. Thermage is a non-invasive treatment which also help your skin generate new collagen but without the downtime of laser resurfacing.

Brow Lift Cosmetic Surgery

Brow lift (also known as forehead lift) surgery helps improve the appearance of heavy and droopy eyebrows. Brow lift is quite different from the upper eyelid lift in the sense that it doesn't remove any skin from the upper eyelid but helps make the eyelid appear more open by lifting up the sagging skin of the brow and forehead. The brow lift is a bigger deal surgically than the eyelid lift and there is typically a need for pain medication, at least for a day or two. There are a few different ways to do a brow lift. For example, there is the endoscopic (means using small video cameras under the skin!) type of brow lift which has fewer cuts and easier to recover from. There are also the more traditional types of brow lifts (such as the coronal brow lift and the hairline brow lift) that require longer cuts and more extensive surgery.

Non-surgical alternatives to brow and forehead lift surgery include Botox, Thermage, and Feather lift. Botox treatments can lift sagging and heavy eyebrows by helping to relax muscles that tend to pull the brows down. The result is often a subtle and natural lift of the eyebrows. The Feather lift (also known as Featherlift, Thread lift, or Threadlift) is a minimally invasive procedure that uses permanent threads of a specially designed suture (stitch) material placed under the skin to produce a subtle lifting power. Feather lift results are subtle and typically not nearly as long lasting as surgery. Thermage treatments are used to non-surgically tighten the skin and the brow and forehead are a common area treated with Thermage. The results are much more subtle that surgery but Thermage can be combined with Botox and Feather lift to get more of a lift.

Cheek Lift Cosmetic Surgery

Cheek lift or midface lift surgery helps lift the sagging upper cheek tissues. The area of skin and fat that is lifted by a cheek lift is in a triangle between the cheek bone, the nose, and the corner of the lip. Cheek lift or midface lift is not the best procedures for those who have loose jowls and sagging of the lower part of the cheek. The cheek lift uses incisions (cuts) inside the mouth and in the temple, so typically there are no visible scars.

Non-surgical alternatives to cheek lift or midface lift surgery include Thermage or Feather lift. Combining Thermage and Feather lift together also works quite well and gives a more predictable result. An excellent way to "lift" the sagging upper cheek or midface area is by using fillers to restore volume to the face and help lift it. We can rejuvenate and lift the upper cheeks using a number of different options including Fat Grafting, Radiesse, or Sculptra. These injections help lift the sagging skin of the upper cheeks in a very natural and pleasing way.

Face Lift Cosmetic Surgery

Face lift (facelift) surgery is the most effective procedure for improving sagging lower cheeks and jowls. Face lift surgery is usually performed with a neck lift to get a nice and uniform lift of the entire lower face and upper neck. There are many different types of face lifts being marketed and it can be very confusing for the consumer trying to figure out which is the best one. The most complete and longest lasting face lift procedure is the deep plane face lift and this is the face lift procedure that most qualified cosmetic surgeons perform. There are also a number of less complete and shorter lasting face lifts with a variety of different names such as the Mini lift, the S-Lift, Lifestyle Lift, Quick Lift, Swift Lift, and many more! The minimal face lift procedures offer advantages of a shorter recovery Face lift (facelift) surgery requires incisions around the ears and typically a 7 -10 day recovery period is needed.

A few of the non-surgical alternatives to face lift surgery are Thermage, Feather lift, Fat Grafting, Radiesse, or Sculptra. Thermage can tone and tighten the skin of the face without any recovery. The amount of tightening that you can expect with Thermage is much more subtle than with surgery and can vary form one person to the other. The Feather lift is another non-surgical way to lift the face. Typically the Feather Lift is better for younger patients that don't have a lot of loose skin. Another way to "lift" the sagging face is by using fillers to restore volume to the face and help lift it. We can rejuvenate and lift the face using a number of different fillers including Fat Grafting, Radiesse, or Sculptra. These injections help lift the sagging skin of the upper cheeks in a very natural and pleasing way.

Neck Lift Cosmetic Surgery

Neck lift (necklift) surgery is used to lift and tighten sagging neck skin and often combined with neck liposuction to remove extra fatty deposits under the chin. Although one can get a neck lift by itself, neck lifts are almost always combined with a face lift since the lower face and upper neck are anatomically connected.

Non-surgical alternatives to neck lift surgery are Thermage and Feather lift. Neck Thermage can give gentle toning and tightening of the neck but is clearly less effective than surgery. Dr. Naficy uses a modified Feather lift of the neck known as the Suspension neck lift that can often produce nice results without extensive surgery. Both Thermage and Feather lift may be combined with neck liposuction to further improve results.

Lip Lift Cosmetic Surgery

Lip lift surgery is a method of lip augmentation and lip reshaping that can improve the appearance of an excessively long and thin upper lip. This type of lip lift involves placing incisions (cuts) under the nose and removing some of the extra skin between the nose and the lip.

There is no great non-surgical alternative to lip lift surgery, but a thin upper lip can be augmented with Restylane, Juvederm, or Fat grafting.

Neck Liposuction Cosmetic Surgery

Neck liposuction (chin liposuction) is a minimally invasive procedure that improves excessive fatty collections under the chin. This is truly one of the least invasive (and least painful) of all facial cosmetic surgery procedures and has the quickest recovery (typically 1-2 days). The result is a thinner and more sculpted neck.

Chin Implant Cosmetic Surgery Seattle

A chin implant (also called chin augmentation, genioplasty, and mentoplasty) is a procedure that improves the appearance of a weak chin. Chin implants are placed directly on top of the chin bone through a small skin incision under the chin. The result is a stronger and more defined chin.

Non-surgical and temporary alternatives to chin implant surgery involve using fillers such as Radiesse, Juvederm, Restylane, and Fat grafting to enhance the chin volume. These non-surgical alternatives are also a good way for you to "test" your look with an augmented chin and to make sure that you like it before going ahead with a chin implant.

Cheek Implant Cosmetic Surgery

Cheek implants (also known as cheek augmentation, malar or submalar augmentation, or malarplasty) is a surgical procedure that improves the contour of the cheeks, by enhancing weak cheekbones, or restoring cheek volume lost with age. Cheek implants are placed directly on top of the cheekbones, typically through an incision (cut) placed inside the mouth.

Non-surgical alternatives to cheek implant surgery involve use of fillers such as Radiesse, Fat grafting, and Sculptra. Radiesse and Fat grafting give instant results but Sculptra takes about 6 months to fully show results.

Fat Grafting Cosmetic Surgery

Facial fat grafting (also known as fat transfer, fat injection, FAMI, or lipostructure) is a minimally invasive procedure that improves the contour of the face by restoring facial volume lost with age. Fat is typically removed from the body using a gentle technique that keeps the fat alive. Fat injections are the made to areas of the face that have lost fullness. Because fat is living tissue, it has the potential to stay alive and give long-term, possibly permanent correction to the face. Typical injection sites include the upper cheeks (over the cheek bones), under the cheekbones, lips, nasolabial folds, jaw-line, and temples. Hands are also a great place to inject fat.

Alternatives to fat grafting are Restylane, Juvederm, Radiesse, and Sculptra. Many patients try some of these injections first, just to make sure that they like the added volume, and then move on to fat injections.

Lip Implant Cosmetic Surgery

Lip implants (lip enhancement or lip augmentation) are performed to increase lip fullness or to restore lip volume lost with age. The most common lip implants are either Gore-Tex (Advanta) or Alloderm, but there are also saline lip implants being developed and will be available in the near future. Lip implants are placed through small incisions (cuts) inside the corner of each mouth.
